Canadian Daniel Dove also known by his stage name Pvrx (pronounced “Py-Rex”) is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter born on October 25, 1994. Pvrx sings about the tough times when he grew up in government residences houses. In 2017, he signed to Def Jam Recordings. Afterward, he released his debut Extended Play on 26th July 2019. Pvrx was born and raised in the harsh surroundings of Rexdale (Jamestown), Toronto, Ontario. His stage name is greatly influenced by his hometown. Besides that, he has a single Jamaican mom and is the last born of 3 siblings. Pvrx says that his mom was a fan of dancehall music. Despite that, his influence is 50 Cent, Eminem, Jay-Z, and The Lox.

Pvrx says that he was raised in a notorious environment with poverty and gang violence which he showcases in his melody. Furthermore, he also started selling drugs at the age of 15. This often led to arrest and detention in the juvenile center ( temporary confinement while a young person’s case is being handled in court ). As a result, he started using music as therapy to escape from his harsh life.

In 2011, Pvrx started to rap and sing at the age of 16. He released several freestyles with Turk, Yung Dubz, Moula 1st, and Banana Clip who hail from his hometown. In 2012, he released his debut mixtape “2 hot two handle” with Moula 1st. In 2013, he left from making music and came back in 2016.

His probation officer recommended he join “The Remix Project.” This program was initiated to help less privileged youths to showcase their talents. Pvrx enrolled in the program after Dj Agile and producer Hagler accepted his performance.Rexdale Artist PVRX lives by the Gang Code

The founder of the program, Gavin Sheppard played his music to Dj Joe Kay who linked Pvrx’s manager to Scott Vener, the HBO music supervisor.  In 2016, Scott Vener put his track “Make It” on Tv series Ballers. Scott Venner recommended him to Paul Rosenberg, CEO of Def Jam Recordings.  Rosenberg signed Pvrx in November 2017.

When he was at Def Jam, he first appeared on an album “undisputed” alongside YK Osiris, YFL Kelvin, Nimic Revenue, Striiipes, and others. In August 2018, he released his first single tracks at Def Jam “Mixed by 40” and “Know Me.” In July 2019, he released his debut Extended Play Album “3.14.” It featured 7 songs with a length of 28 minutes. Moreover, the album featured 2 singles “Make It” and “U Down” which had more than 1 million views in 1 month. Additionally, the album had guest appearances including Dave East and Yung Pinch. The album contained production from Moula 1st, FrancisGotHeat, Nineteen85, and others. Lastly, on December 13, 2019, he appeared on 6ixBuzz’s album “Northern Sound.”

It’s no doubt that he gained more experience as well as exposure at Def Jam. He parted ways with Def Jam in 2020 to start a new chapter in the music industry. He is now focused on his own label “On Sight Rx.”  The On Sight Rx platform is meant to develop upcoming artists and help them shine.
