Birmingham,Alabama has gifted and nourished the world by an amazing female rapper Morgin in 2000. She is born from a mixed family, having a black mother and a Pakistani father and having two brothers. She has been living sharing both cultures which made her interesting and understanding others. She has always been interested in art, music and dancing from an early age. She knew what she wanted in her life, she graduated in 2018 and started rapping in that same year of her graduation.
She always loved music, singing and also taking the spotlight, sharing her feelings with others through music so she started what she is best at, which is rapping. She used to write rap lyrics in her notebook but was not confident enough to release her own rap. She did a cover and dropped a freestyle to NBA Youngboy’s song “Outside Today” that was when Morgin life and career in the music industry started. She gained the confidence and motivation to keep on going when her mom one day randomly asked her “Did I know how to rap?”. This was a point that boosted her working ability and a confirmation she needed that she is actually a good rapper and should continue to believe in herself.
She has levelled up and released her own rap in 2022. She has dropped two outstanding works in 2022 which are “Boujee and Uninterested” and “Nightmare on Mo Street 2”. She has also released 5 videos just this year. “Nightmare on Mo Street 2” is her favourite work until now. She is a perfectionist and wants her music to be better but loves “Nightmare on Mo Street 2” and listens to every song everyday. She most oftenly writes raps from an event that took place in her life, she writes from experience. Sharing what she feels, Her lyrics are often influenced by what is going on in her life. Creating the feeling of that girl is her aim in her rap, she wants her rap to just pop with it and have and understand the feeling.
Exclusive Interview with Artist Morgin
What’s your background? What got you into rap music?
I was always good at it. YNB Nahmir had just blown up , it wasn’t any Alabama rappers, and I said if he can do it, I can too.
How long has music been a part of your life?
All my life i have always been infatuated with music. Even in middle school, I used to freestyle with my friends. In high school, my classmates will tell you that I always rapped in class with my best friend. We have always loved rap & could recite any song backwards.
If it wasn’t for music, where would you be now?
I don’t look at my life in the perspective of, “ If it wasn’t for….” my brain doesn’t let me think like that.
How did you come to realise that music was the way forward for you?
When I dropped my first freestyle on FB, and it went viral , everyone was telling me to keep going & was tapped in with me, I was like yeah I can really do this.
If you had to sacrifice one skill, which would you least like to let go, and why?
I’m a jack of all trades, if I had to let go of any skill it would probably be lashes. I used to do lashes in high school when mink lashes first came out. It’s a skill that I will never use, you couldn’t pay me any amount of money actually.
Who’s your fashion icon, and why?
I don’t think I have one.
In what way do you aim to make a difference?
I aim to make a difference by being the first female rapper to make it big from my city. I want to give back to the community & charities. i will be the biggest rapper to come out of Alabama. I also aim to make a difference in letting my supporters know its okay to be small or not have any breast/butt. You don’t have to be thick to be appealing.
What’s your favourite project so far, and why?
My favourite project so far is, Nightmare On Mo Street 2, I’m a virgo , which is a perfectionist, I’m my biggest critic, I usually only like a few songs from my project, I always feel like I can do better , but NOMS2, I love every song , no skips, it’s all I listen to everyday. I recorded almost the whole album in one session, & it didn’t take me long either.
