Executive Interview with Artist Souffsidecee

The Young Talented Female American singer and songwriter Souffsidecee was born on November,21,1996 in Long Island, NY. Even though she was born in Long Island, New York because of her mother’s relocation due to work, she grew up in Charleston, South California. SouffSide Cee was raised by a single mother therefore things were not easy when she was growing up, but their mother did her best for her and her brother.

SouffSide Cee realized she have a passion for music at a very early age when she was involved in Church. Her love for music began when she was young in the church she went to growing up. She was not only listening when she was in the church, but she was also a part of the choir and dance team. She elevated the performance in the church with her incredible voice. Her Music Journey also continued in middle and high school where I was a part of the band at Military Magnet Academy. When she was in middle school she became a part of the band drumline, making her the youngest and only female a part of the team at the time. She used to play multiple instruments but mainly drums because she was the main drummer. She also began making music covers for numerous songs besides playing instruments in the band.

SouffSide Cee has faced a lot of challenges from her young age until now. One of the Challenges, she overcome was her Fear of rejection, fear of feeling as though she was not good enough. But after she realized that she have to do what made her happy. This realization made her think that what others think doesn’t matter and that she has to do what she believed in. This made her self-confident and defeat her fear. Due to this fear, Writing music was also a difficult challenge, but when she defeated her fear and allowed her emotions to flow freely, songwriting become easy and meaning full.

SouffSide Cee Life was always on the Music Journey, but she began releasing her music in 2021. She uses music as a way to express her feeling and tell what is happening in her life.  The first single was released in April 2021 and was titled “Cry No More”. She wrote this song during an emotional period of her life. She wanted to give a glimpse of her life to her audience when she lost two friends and also found out that her mother was diagnosed with cancer. After “Cry No More” she released her most prominent song titled “Hold Me” in the same month as the first single released. In Jan 2022, SouffSide Cee released her first EP “HYPERGRAPHIA” which has 4 tracks, Live On,4 Sale, Save Me, and Head High. She has also featured in D Wilk’s Song “Where the Magic Happens”.

Her Determination for her hard work is her inspiration by her late mother, who was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and died this year. Her Advice to the Audience is that “No matter what you go through in life, no matter how many times you get knocked down, keep going. Nothing worth having comes easy and everyone’s story is different. My favorite saying is, “Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.” We can see that she will be one the influential artist just from her little work that has already impacted many people.

  • What’s your background? What got you into rap music?

I’m more of a song rapper but honestly, music has always been an interest of mine.

  • How long has music been a part of your life?

It started in the church I was raised since 3 years old. I was a part of the choir and dance team. Then when I was 14 years old I joined the drum line and became the youngest and only female drummer in the band at the time because my school was a 6th-12th grade.

  • If it wasn’t for music, where would you be now?

If it wasn’t for music honestly I feel like I would not be alive. It’s helped me channel my internal feelings.

  • How did you come to realize that music was the way forward for you?

I knew since I was little that I had a gift for music but it wasn’t until 2021 that I decided to peruse a music career.

  • In what way do you aim to make a difference?

I aim to bring back the way music used to be when people spoke about relatable things and real-life situations.

  • Who’s your fashion icon, and why?

My fashion icon is WNBA star Destanni Henderson because she never half-steps and always comes with fire fashion.

  • What’s the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

I’m very unproblematic and stay to myself, so I stay out of trouble. The one time I did have a run-in with police my charges were dropped.

  • Where is your career heading? What’s the vision?

I believe my career is going to take off and I’ll be known worldwide simply due to my authenticity.

  • How would you describe your style of music?

I would describe my music as versatile depending on what mood I am in.

  • How do you put words to paper? What’s your creative process like?

I usually come up with a melody in my head and then I put words in.

  • When it comes to performing, what’s your style?

I’m currently working on being a better performer due to my anxiety.

  • If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

If I could perform anywhere in the world it would be Paris. Aside from the fact it’s a beautiful place, just knowing my presence is wanted outside of the United States would mean a lot.

  • What’s your favorite project so far, and why?

My favorite protect would be my single “Hold Me” because it’s one of the songs that mean the most to me. It was made in dedication to my best friends who passed.

  • How do you see your sound evolving in the next couple of years?

I see my sound growing in so many ways positively because I know I have the potential to be one of the greatest of all time.
